Cornwall - it's a perfect location

Visiting Cornwall is almost like visiting another country. It is virtually separated from the rest of England by the River Tamar, and you can certainly see and feel the change in the landscape as you travel through the largely untouched Bodmin Moor (with its dramatic granite tors towering over the sweeping moorland). There's a rugged beauty to the landscape virtually unmatched in Britain.

Cornwall is reknowned for its coastline of course, having some of the finest beaches in Europe. For fifty miles along the length of Cornish coast there are magnificent open stretches of silky white and glowing sands.

The completion of the £100 million 'Clean Sweep' scheme for Mount's Bay, St Ives and Hayle, the West Cornwall area can boast probably the cleanest bathing waters in Western Europe. There are award-winning beaches at Porthminster and Porthmeor, St Ives and at Sennen, near to Lands End where European Blue Flag and Tidy Britain awards have been given for several years. Today the West Cornwall beaches measure up to the European Commission guidelines through South West Water's ambitious programme.

Between these wonderful beaches and coves are dotted about the many seaside towns, villages, and hamlets, each with its own particular character and charm. St Ives, Mousehole, Padstow and Porthlevan to name but a few.
